Babblings: Grammys 2011

Finally got to watch the entire Grammy Awards 2011! (thank you piratebay.org) So I thought of just typing out my observations on the show. I don't really have anyone to talk to about this here so why not write about it.

I watch the Grammys mainly for the performances because I'm curious to see as to what artists will do with their songs when they perform it live and to celeb watch (haha). It's the Grammys so you know they're going to give an all out performance. Or they're going to have an unusual collaboration or something which could either work or fail.

Some thoughts:

  • no host. and the show still ran smoothly. well done.
  • Aretha tribute was great! Particulary loved Martina McBride's voice and Florence's energy. Christina's mic stand is "papansin". But the diva off/ screech fest at the end was TOO MUCH. Good on ya J-Hud for not joining in.
  • Though I'm not a fan of Gaga. She really knows how to get people's attention. So in her incredibly high standard of attention grabbing performances this one was kind of blah.
  • I don't think I've fully accepted that Ricky Martin and Neil Patrick Harris are gay.
  • Awesome use of the video board by Muse.
  • Cee Lo's performance was one of the most memorable, thanks to the muppet background singers/band and Cee Lo's pinata-ish costume. Only letdown was Gwyneth not playing along with the costumes and Cee Lo forgetting his words. ha.
  • Mick Jagger was awesome! Loved his energy on stage! He was performing as if it was his OWN show. I dont know lots of his stuff but now I understand why he's a legend. It would probably be cool to see him do that live.
  • Barbra Streisand is still Barbra! But I got distracted when she started to sing "Love.. soft as an easy chair..." The next word that came to my mind was "Stupid!" Thanks Salbakuta for ruining such a classic song.
  • What's the difference b/n Song of the Year and Record of the Year?
  • Katy Perry doesn't sound good live. Or baka ako lang yun.
  • How cute was Nicole Kidman in the audience dancing along to the performances and singing the Katy Perry song?
  • Also cute? Will and Jada = stage parents (plus Willow in the background)
  • Bieber/Usher was alright. I guess. I can watch Usher dance all day but he needs to stop auto-tuning his voice. He wasn't using it before and he sounded great.
  • Di nagets ni Justin yung joke ni Letterman. haha.
  • Dear Lady Antebellum, Need You Now is a great song, but do you have to sing it in every performance? Didn't you sing that last year too?
  • Adam Levine "performed" with Rihanna. I didn't mind that he was only a back-up since it's not his song, but dude should've gotten at least some screen time, it's not everyday you see him play the piano. He had no close-ups/midshots. Also, in that same number I didn't see Skylar Grey's face. She had the same issues as Adam and she was singing a full song and out-sung Rihanna! Grammys/CBS Fail!
  • Emimen! Dr Dre! Galing niyo pa din!
  • Arcade fire: Hyper
  • Favorite of the night: Janelle Monae!! Love her! Glad she was given the chance to perform! I want to see her live and dance with her! Good thing she didn't push through with Good Vibrations or we would've missed that. hee. The whole collab with Bruno Mars and B.O.B was good too.
Okay. I'll shattap now. That's all I can remember about the show. Congrats to winners and non-winners!

pins and fingers

Am I the only one who does this when bored and sees a couple of safety pins lying around?

*I used to think this was a really cool trick when I was young. Maybe I'm still cool if I'm still doing it today. or Not.

"Rafael Nadal touched me..."

Lucky dude! 1. He got to see Rafa upclose. 2. He has a wife who understands his obsession with Nadal. (I wish there's also a guy like there somewhere.) 3. He got to see Rafa upclose and touch him!!!

Never thought I'd see a guy fangirl/freak out over a man! Loved his excitement all throughout the video. He even took a video of Rafa's famous ass. Well done sir!

I wonder if i'll freak out like this if I ever get to "touch" Rafa Nadal...

Yeah I probably would.

KATKINS

A few years ago a friend of mine made a very special blog entry for me on my birthday. A year before that she gave me a personalised letter plus chips. haha. Each year she always makes me feel special on my birthday. She never fails even just through facebook. I guess it's time for me to give some of the love back. She deserves to be treated like a princess on her day! :)

I think she remembers more clearly how we met. Though I do remember that we got close in FOTOCAM. This was during our first term for majors. She was a shiftee from ORGCOMM and didn't know anyone. I befriended her along with the half of the Bonosoc who I had the same classes with (Jill, Cuyeg, Jason). It wasn't hard to like her and it was very easy to get along with her. We pretty much were in the same wavelength regarding most things, so she easily became an adopted member of Bonosoc. :P One early conversation we had about a certain Pasig Paulinian was I think when we started 'bonding'. (please tell me you remember this. haha.) But through time we found out how much we related a lot with each other. From being Paulinians to being Lectors. From our crushes aka crushing on gay guys, to our weird stomach issues. Then we pretty much were together in most classes and were groupmates wherever possible. :)) College life would definitely be different without her!

One of the most vivid memory I had with her was during one dreadful course card day. I was struggling to pull myself together and she was there to comfort me. She helped me make that phone call and get through that day. I don't like crying in front of people especially my friends or family. Only a few of my friends have seen me cry. But on this day I couldn't hold it in. I don't think I've ever cried like that in front of anyone ever. It was hard. But she was there. And that was enough. So thank you for that! :)

My fave pic of us! haha copied from your bday entry for me :)

To this day, even if we're miles apart, she still remains one of my closest friends. I love that we are still able to talk about the most random subjects from bastusan to real life issues. Thanks for always being there for me. I'm glad to know that I have someone like you who always has my back! Sometimes it doesn't even feel like I'm very far from you.

We've been through a lot together! And I'm eternally grateful that you're my friend! Thank you for being you and for being my friend. I hope you know that I'm always here for you too! I'm only a YM, a FB message, an email or a tweet away. :)

I miss you terribly Katherine Pasigan! I wish I was there to celebrate with you! Do know that I love you! and I wish you all the success and happiness in life. No one deserves it more. :D

welcome back

... to me. Finally decided to blog again. Not sure how long regular blogging will last but I'll try (again) to post more. Actually been writing a lot of (draft) blog entries, and they are scattered in my computer. I tried using Tumblr but I felt uncomfortable posting personal stuff there so I'm back here. Tumblr will be used (though not exclusively) for fangirling purposes.

Changed my layout to match my Tumblr page. Then I realized that most of the blogs that I had before had the same 'style' neon colors on black. hee. I'll shut up now and will try to post something with more substance. :)
